The Rocket: A Nutrient-Packed Super Pie

Is it true that any good salad can be turned into a pizza? We think so! And the proof is in our latest seasonal pie: The Rocket.

Much more enticing than a bowl of roughage, The Rocket combines ingredients fit for a superb salad: salty prosciutto, creamy mozzarella, and fine olive oil with fresh, peppery arugula added just after it’s pulled from the oven. The leafy greens provide a pungent flavor that lends a lightness to the pie, perfect for warm, summer days.

Raw arugula, more commonly known as salad rocket in other countries, is a popular pizza topping in Italy. This cruciferous vegetable is a good source of vitamins C and K as well as calcium, magnesium, riboflavin, copper, iron, zinc, folate, and potassium. It also contains powerful phytochemicals and glucosinolates, considered to have detoxifying elements and help prevent certain types of cancer. We can see why the ancient Romans ate arugula for good luck!

The Rocket is available through the end of July, and while it’s a featured pie, you can add arugula to any pizza for regular topping price. Hint: It makes an exceptional addition to the Crostata, our other seasonal pizza.
