Juanita 2.0: Walls of Windows, Light-Filled Dining Area, Slice Bar, Open Kitchen
In 1999, Jeff Woodruff led our expansion to the Eastside by opening three stores—Juanita, Crossroads, and Bridle Trails. Closest to his heart was his hometown store: Juanita. The area around the store was sleepy then. Still, the location, which was delivery and pickup-only, built a loyal following on Pagliacci’s reputation for great customer service and for making excellent pizza day in and day out.
More than twenty years later, the neighborhood around the store has exploded with residential and commercial growth, stimulated in part by the renovation of Juanita Beach Park. To meet the rising demand, we decided to remodel and expand the Juanita store. And it was time to go big—or at least bigger.
Remodel isn’t even quite the right word. Rebuild is closer to the truth. We blew out a wall and added considerable square footage. This allowed us to add a 46-seat dining room, outdoor seating, double the size of the kitchen, and, somehow, squeeze in a few extra parking spaces.
Two walls of soaring windows fill the space with light and open it to the thriving neighborhood. An open kitchen and slice bar make it easy to grab a quick lunch or dinner. The store also has a dedicated station for pick-up orders so customers who’ve ordered ahead can get in and out with ease.
“This is a proud homecoming for me,” says Jeff Woodruff, now Pagliacci’s Chief Operating Officer, who’s from Juanita and opened the original store in 1999. “I’m delighted to bring slices and a dining room to Juanita. By doubling the size of the kitchen, our crew now has the capacity they need to meet demand without extending wait times. The new space is airy and inviting and designed with the customer in mind.”
The new space will open to the public on August 12 and will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
We will celebrate the dining room and slice bar by giving away slices on August 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a limit of two slices per person.
