Life’s a Peach (and Other Summery Delights)
Driving down a dusty Eastern Washington road to a farmstand laden with fresh Washington state peaches and choosing a few ripe ones, warm from the sun, and biting into the succulent fruit, juices dripping down your wrist, is to know the joy of summer. Could anything improve on this? Probably not. But the best “peachy” efforts come pretty close.
While Washington state may not rival California or Georgia in peach production, our sun-ripened local peaches are top-notch in taste. Varietals such as Red Haven, Frost, and Contender are sweetly aromatic and bursting with flavor. It’s no wonder peaches were historically grown for emperors and kings.
Our Peachza Primo may not be for those who abhor fruit on pizza. But for those that know better, this one’s for you. This pizza is salty, peachy, tangy, and meaty. We start with juicy farm-stand Washington state peaches, slice and layer them with savory roasted pork loin over creamy mozzarella on an olive oil base. Once out of the oven, we top the pie with a drizzle of balsamic reduction and fresh peppery arugula tossed with olive oil and sea salt.
Our second seasonal pizza, a customer contest winner from a few years ago, is the Meatball Primo. It features meatballs from Isernio's Sausage, a beloved local brand founded by Frank Isernio, who turned his family's treasured Italian recipe into a thriving business. The Italian-style pork meatballs are complemented by pepperoncini, onions, sun-ripened tomatoes, Asiago, and mozzarella over our seasoned tomato sauce.
This round, we’re also offering our Pesto Salad, a fan favorite. The Seattle Times described it as a “deeply satisfying combination…perfect for a quick lunch or supper, particularly in hot weather.” The salad features penne, sweet peas, Parmesan, tomatoes, and a creamy pesto dressing.
Now, back to peaches! The sweet jubilance of summer-by-the-spoonful is what you get with Gelatiamo's Peaches and Cream.
