Honoring a Seattle Icon

Ivar’s turns 75 this year! The Seattle seafood restaurant is celebrating from September 23 to November 17 with everything from dining deals to a new seafood-centric cookbook.

We were clamoring to join the party and found the perfect avenue. Ivar Haglund, the restaurant's founder, adopted the British World War II slogan “Keep Calm and Carry On.” But, ever the quipster, Ivar made one simple yet catchy twist: Keep Clam. Ivar passed away in 1985, but the Keep Clam motto lives on through his restaurants to this day. To honor the legend and this iconic establishment, we named our newest seasonal special the Keep Clam Primo. Featuring briny clams and salty pancetta, we think Ivar would approve.
