Teaming Up to Support the Community Kitchen
Pagliacci Pizza carries Coke products. As part of our partnership, Swire Coca-Cola provides us with an annual advertising budget. Last year, rather than spend the marketing money, we asked if we could give it away to a community organization. Coke said yes!
We chose Cathedral Kitchen, a Seattle institution long-supported by Pagliacci. Cathedral Kitchen serves nearly 40,000 meals a year to those in need of a hot meal. During the pandemic, the Cathedral Kitchen pivoted to provide meals to go. In non-pandemic times, the Cathedral Kitchen serves a nutritious and dignified meal in the St. James dining hall. Five days a week, as many as 150 guests line up on First Hill to sit at one of the beautifully-set long tables. Volunteers serve the multi-course communal dinner to the guests at 4:15 P.M.
The program has existed since 1975, and St. James Cathedral has operated it since 2007. Several Pagliacci employees volunteer, including co-owner Matt Galvin and his wife Michelle who work the dining room every Tuesday. Dorene Centioli, Pagliacci’s founder, cooks every Friday. Pagliacci recently increased its contribution from providing a full meal for all guests once a month to providing one weekly.
As part of our deal with Coke, Cathedral Kitchen received nearly a month’s worth of Fairlife Milk — more than 1,500 servings! The donation was impactful. This year, we decided to do the same. We’re proud to partner with Coke to make a difference.
