Our Upcoming Giveaway: Candy from DeLaurenti

The “Stay home, stay healthy” mandate may have silenced the normally rollicking Pike Place Market, but DeLaurenti is hopping. Not with shoppers, as it has been since 1946, but with orders for pickup and delivery.
They just delivered us thousands of bags of our favorite hard candy: Sperlari Spicchi Sú Citrus Fruit Wedges. And we’re giving them away with every order of pizza this coming Thursday (April 16) while supplies last. Sperlari has been making confections in Italy for over 160 years.

Unaware how quickly they’d depend upon it, DeLaurenti has been busy over the last couple of years building an online store that approximates the in-store experience. High-resolution photos and videos accompany the products, and vivid guides complete with detailed flavor descriptions and background information help customers choose what’s right for them. Just like in the store, customers can order as little as a quarter pound of sliced charcuterie or specialty cheese. Nearly everything in the store is detailed online, but if customers don’t see what they’re looking for, they can add it to the instruction field at checkout, and DeLaurenti’s experts behind the counter will do their best to include it. You can schedule a no-contact store pickup or get same-day delivery throughout Seattle. Details are available on their website.

Chef Renee Erickson, a 2016 James Beard Award winner and customer, wrote, “DeLaurenti is a Seattle staple and treasure.” Visit their digital store, and you’ll understand why. And when Governor Inslee lifts the stay-at-home order and the Pike Market springs back to life, you can head down and get the full experience complete with boisterous street buskers and flying fish.
