 A Little History:
When Pagliacci first began its delivery service, deliveries were taken out of the Queen Anne Pizzeria. With the growing popularity of delivery, the pizzeria's ovens filled to capacity and delivery drivers found it difficult to find parking. Pagliacci began the search for a new delivery kitchen site. The Valley Street Delivery Kitchen opened on September 27, 1995, transforming the Civic Center Motel from a property dominated by drug and prostitution activity into a hub of pizza and hope.
The site was reportedly one of the first "motor hotels" in Seattle during the 1950's. By the 1990's it fell on hard times until the city closed it down as a public nuisance and barred even the owner from coming onto the property.
With renovation, one two-story building was converted into a delivery kitchen giving lots of room for cooks to toss dough. The second building became Valley House, Pagliacci's first transitional housing project. We basically provide the facility to the New Horizon Church so that they can successfully operate their Transitional Housing Program. The project takes community support past a free pizza here and there and moves it to significantly impacting the needy.
